Data Management System

Tips, tricks and information about the database
There is more than one way to skin a cat. And who is skinning cats???!!!!

1. Review all the links before getting started. It may seem overwhelming at first, but you'll see it's really intuitive.
2. Set some ground rules before you start like the naming convention for you're images and invoices. No matter the method you choose, once selected stay with it. An example is the database will hold a image of the purchase but it will be named i.e., couch_small.png. The images in the database should always have the xxx_small added. The original picture should be stored on your harddrive or in a cloud. The same goes for your invoices for each purchase.
3. Use the Resize program provided to "shrink" your images and invoices. Select here to get the program. The Resize program will automatically resize your image and then add on the "_small" identifier to let you know this is the one that goes into the database. So take your photo and give it a recognizable name.
4. Inputting data gather all your information. The more time and care you put into inputting the less time you will need for editing.

5. Recommend you input the Vendor information first. When you're ready to input the purchase information use the purchase input form. When you get to the part about who the vendor is all you need to do is put vendor ID number in.

6. Aside from the security and ease, there is one more important aspect to this data management system; that being flexibility. If you want or need the system to do something you don't see just tell your systems planner. He can make it happen for you.
